ARTS-BASED SCHOOL REFORM THROUGH THE A+ SCHOOLS PROGRAM
A new report, “Arts-Based School Reform: Adaptations of the A+ Schools Program in Three Unique Contexts,” is available as part of an ongoing collaboration between the NC Department of Public Instruction and the NC Department of Cultural Resources in support of the A+ Schools Program of the NC Arts Council. Originating in NC in 1995, the A+ Schools Program is a nationally-recognized, arts-based whole-school reform movement. This report highlights how the A+ philosophy and A+ Essentials are implemented uniquely in three different schools: Bugg Creative Arts and Science Magnet Elementary School, R. N. Harris Integrated Arts/Core Knowledge Magnet Elementary School, and Saluda Elementary School. For more information, please contact Michelle Burrows, Director, at michelle.burrows@ncdcr.com.
