NCDPI Blended Professional Development

The new Common Core State and North Carolina Essential Standards are supported by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction with a blended professional development plan. This blended plan includes a series of regional summer institutes, follow-up regional trainings, webinars, printed materials, and online modules to be used throughout the next four years. These resources are provided to representatives from Districts and Charter Schools across the state, to support curriculum teams and leaders as they design and implement local professional development. The new standards will be implemented in the 2012-2013 academic year.

Summer Institutes were held at regional sites and attended by LEA (District or Charter School) teams representing each content area. The teams attended content specific working groups as well as sessions focused on the process of developing and implementing local professional development.
